Here are some pics from the 1st day of school. At the dinner table that night, we asked the kids what was the best thing and the worst thing about school that day.

Maddie said the best thing was the "golden nuggets." She explained that for each day that their behavior card stays on green they get a golden nugget. At the end of the month, they can use their nuggets to buy things at Mrs. Burdick's store (where she has pencils, toys, random small things). The worst thing was that all the 3rd grade classes were told that they were not allowed to talk in the lunch room. I'm not sure what all that is about, we'll have to check into that.
Jack said the best thing was having his own desk. It has his name on it and everything. The worst thing was when Mrs. Howard told the class there were 15 minutes left of school - Jack said that last 15 minutes felt like it took about an hour to get through! This is his first time having full time school, and I think the days are a bit long for him!
Maddie met and played with a new girl to the school named Mary. When we asked Jack who he played with today he said, "I played with 2 boys." We asked him what their names were and he said, "I don't know and Mr. I don't know." That's my boy! It takes him a bit to get around to finding out names - he just plays.
